MEDIUS Holdings Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Medius Holdings Co., Ltd. Yasuhiko Ikeya; hereinafter referred to as MEDIUS) is pleased to announce that it will begin offering "ASOURCE SaMD," a programmable medical device (Software as a Medical Device: SaMD) under its private brand "ASOURCE."

MEDIUS Group, with its management philosophy of "contributing to community healthcare," primarily sells medical equipment, sells and rents welfare and nursing care products, and provides solutions to support the efficiency of medical facilities, supporting medical institutions facing various challenges. Programmable medical devices (SaMDs) are expected to bring about revolutionary changes in the medical field. In 2020, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare enacted the Package Strategy for Accelerating the Practical Use of Programmable Medical Devices (DASH for SaMDs), and the number of approvals has been on the rise. MEDIUS Group will begin offering programmable medical devices (SaMDs) for the purposes of diagnosing and treating diseases, branding them as ASOURCE SaMDs.

As a first step, MEDIUS Group will begin selling SaMD products*1 manufactured and sold by Fujitsu Japan Limited.

Through the development of ASOURCE SaMD, MEDIUS Group will further contribute to improving the quality of life of medical professionals and patients.

About ASOURCE SaMD
SaMD (Programmed Medical Device) is a medical device that uses a standalone program (software) for the purpose of diagnosing and treating diseases. It supports diagnosis, which has previously depended on the experience and technical ability of doctors, and reduces the burden on medical professionals as well as the physical burden on patients, contributing to an improvement in quality of life.
