MEDIUS Holdings, Mediris Logi, and Sunmedix launch joint demonstration experiment aimed at sustainable medical equipment logistics

2026.1.8

MEDIUS Holdings Co., Ltd., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Medius Holdings Co., Ltd. Yasuhiko Ikeya; hereinafter referred to as MEDIUS HD") will begin a demonstration experiment to improve the efficiency of medical equipment delivery in collaboration with MEDIUS Mediris Logistics Co., Ltd., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Medius Holdings Co., Ltd.: Tatsuichi Sakai; hereinafter referred to as "Mediris Logi"), a subsidiary of Medias Holdings, and Sunmedix Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Medius Holdings Co., Ltd.: Satoshi Morikawa; hereinafter referred to as "Sunmedix"), a medical equipment wholesaler, with the aim of improving the efficiency of medical equipment delivery and building a sustainable logistics system.

For many years, MEDIUS Group has supported medical facilities by supplying over one million products, from medical consumables to cutting-edge medical equipment. Medilis Logi is a logistics company established in March 2025 that brings together the know-how cultivated by our group, aiming to achieve safe and prompt medical logistics, improve logistics efficiency, and reduce environmental impact.

In recent years, structural issues have become apparent in the logistics sector, such as rising labor and fuel costs, and a decline in transportation capacity due to the impact of the Work Style Reform Act. In the medical device sector, there is a strong demand for "safety, responsiveness, and stable supply," and the increased logistics risks and rising costs are having a direct impact on the field.
Furthermore, traditionally, deliveries were made individually by each manufacturer and wholesaler, resulting in long-standing issues such as low loading rates, overlapping delivery routes, and inefficient return logistics.

This demonstration experiment is the first step in efforts to resolve these industry-wide issues, disperse and absorb logistics risks, reduce costs, and build sustainable medical device logistics. By combining MEDIUS Group's extensive distribution network with the know-how of Sunmedix and Mediris Logi, the project will verify the effects of joint delivery, such as improved loading rates, reduced vehicle deployment, and reduced environmental impact.

[Outline of the demonstration experiment]
Target area: Kanto area, centered on Tokyo, Tochigi, and Gunma
Target items: Medical equipment, medical consumables, etc.
Verification period: January to June 2026 (planned)
Verification details: Improved loading rate through joint flights, reduced number of vehicles dispatched, reduced environmental impact, etc.
*Based on the results and issues obtained from the experiment, we will consider expanding the target area and routes in the future.

MEDIUS Group will continue to contribute to the development of regional medical care by providing innovative and sustainable logistics solutions for medical facilities and the patients they serve.
