Requirements for a Medical Materials Database
Maintenance and reliability
Medical supplies used in healthcare facilities are extremely diverse, ranging from highly specialized medical equipment to everyday hygiene products such as bandages.
In medical materials databases, the more comprehensive they are, the more it reduces the burden of medical material research for medical institutions and medical material wholesalers, and the more accurate the research becomes. While new medical materials are constantly being introduced, some are being discontinued. Furthermore, insurance reimbursement prices and sales prices also change, so the maintenance of information registered in medical materials databases requires timeliness and reliability.
Overview and Features of ASOURCE® DATABASE for MEDICAL DEVICE
In Japan, there is no official database for medical supplies. While some organizations and companies create their own databases, they do not cover all medical supply information. To improve efficiency and prevent errors in medical supply management for medical institutions and other companies, MEDIUS Holdings provides ASOURCE®DATABASE for MEDICAL DEVICE (hereinafter, ASOURCE®DATABASE).
Comprehensiveness of registered product information
As of the end of March 2026, the number of registered entries in ASOURCE®DATABASE has reached approximately 1.9 million.
The data items registered for each medical material include product name, manufacturer name, LOT/serial management classification, Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), JAN code (multiple codes can be registered per product), list price history, reimbursement price history, and Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Items highlighted in red are unique to ASOURCE®DATABASE and are not found in the management items of other medical material databases.

Prompt maintenance and reliability assurance
The data in ASOURCE®DATABASE is based on meccul Medical Materials Database and information from various medical materials manufacturers (Figure 2). In addition to our own information gathering, we maintain close cooperation with each manufacturer to receive information, enabling us to quickly register and update information and enhance its reliability.
